Rangers Showing Progress And Staying Power In 3rd Campaign Under Steven Gerrard

Some pundits and fans were unsure whether Steven Gerrard had the necessary experience and skills as a manager to take over at such a storied club as Rangers after only coaching the Liverpool Academy.

However Rangers chose their man and have given him time and resources to build a side capable of finally wrestling the Scottish Premier League title away from arch rivals Celtic.

There is no doubt that Gerrard has proven an attraction when it has come to recruitment and he has been able to acquire some highly regarded players like Amiens loan star midfielder Bongani Zungu and Georghi Hagi’s son Ianis who is a talented attacking midfielder. Gerrard operates as a professional who has lived and worked football all his adult life (plus likely his childhood) and he has credibility and can help make the club a realistic destination for players like former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere.

With Neil Lennon’s Celtic going all out for an unprecedented 10th league title in a row in the 2020-21 season – a feat which has never been achieved in Scotland, Rangers’ emergence at the top of the table has come as a welcome development for Gerrard and his staff after the recent 2-0 away win vs the Hoops and the win yesterday over Livingston.

With Rangers currently enjoying a healthy 6 point lead at the top of the SPL while Celtic do have a game in hand, Gerrard’s men also have a much superior goal difference of 25 goals compared to Celtic’s goal difference of 17 goals.

So all looks positive this year for Gerrard and with the likes of Alfredo Morelos finally knuckling down this year may well be the year Rangers break through and finally win the SPL again after way too long.
