Rangers Set To Confirm Chelsea Star As Club’s Second Summer Signing ‘This Week’

Rangers are set to announce Chelsea defender Dujon Sterling as their next signing “this week”, according to Football.Scotland.

The 23-year-old won’t officially join the Light Blues until July 1st but it is believed that the club will confirm that a pre-contract agreement has been signed.

Sterling will be the second addition of the summer, following on from the announcement last week that Kieran Dowell will join from Norwich City on a free transfer.

Manager Michael Beale is believed to have had a face-to-face meeting with Sterling, with the fullback having already been to the club’s training facilities.

The Gers did have to fight off some competition from Stoke City. Sterling has been on loan at the Championship club this season but Rangers was always the most attractive offer on the table.

Sterling knows he may not be a regular starter at Rangers

The right-back will be going up against captain James Tavernier for a starting spot so he must be confident in his own abilities.

The Rangers’ talisman is getting on in years (he will turn 32 in October) so having a young backup in place like Sterling seems like a very sensible decision.
