Rangers Ruled Out Of Free Transfer Swoop For Ex-England Star

Rangers are not looking to snap up Everton fullback Leighton Baines this summer, according to the Daily Record.

There had been claims that the 34-year-old could move to Ibrox on a free transfer when his contract expires with the Premier League club at the end of this month.

Rangers are believed to be looking for a new left-back after it was confirmed that captain Lee Wallace will depart the club after eight years.

However, it seems Baines won’t be someone that the Light Blues will be pursuing as a possible replacement.

The former England international made just eight appearances in all competitions last season as Toffees boss Marco Silva opted to play French fullback Lucas Digne ahead of him.

Rangers have been linked with another veteran fullback in ex-Gers star Alan Hutton in recent days, but it seems that manager Steven Gerrard will be seeking younger options in the summer transfer market.
