Rangers Remain Keen On Signing 103 Cap International Defender

Rangers remain interested in signing Martin Skrtel on a free transfer, according to reports in Turkey.

Manager Steven Gerrard has been heavily linked with a move for the Slovakian international ever since he arrived at Ibrox.

That speculation increased further when Skrtel opted to leave Fenerbahce at the end of his contract in June.

However, the Gers’ £3.5m signing of Filip Helander from Bologna should have put to an end any talk of Skrtel making the move to Scotland.

Gerrard now has four quality centre-backs in the squad with Helander joining the likes of George Edmundson, Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson.

Even so, the rumours of Skrtel’s arrival still haven’t gone away. The 34-year-old, who has 103 caps for Slovakia, is also being pursued by Parma and Olympiakos, and an announcement on his future is said to be imminent.

Hopefully, when his new team is revealed, it will put an end to this speculation once and for all.
