Rangers Ranked 14 Places Above Celtic In Global Club Soccer Rankings

FiveThirtyEight have ranked Rangers 14 places above Celtic in their latest “Global Club Soccer Rankings.”

The Light Blues were positioned 92nd while their Old Firm rivals were placed 106th in the list of clubs from around the world.

The methodology behind the rankings is assessed on goals scored and goals conceded based on a hypothetical average team at a neutral venue.

Using the method, Rangers goals scored average was 1.9 goals with their goal conceded being 1.1. For Celtic, although they averaged fewer goals conceded at 0.9, their goals scored was only 1.6.

Manchester City are first on the table, with Bayern Munich and Liverpool in second and third place. Barcelona, Chelsea, Paris-Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Olympiakos and Ajax make up the rest of the top ten.

One of the biggest surprises is Spanish minnows Eibar, who make it into the top 20 with the likes Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Manchester United all behind them in the rankings.
