Rangers On Alert As Hopes Are Raised That Chelsea Starlet Could Be Available On Loan

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour could now be loaned out before the January transfer window closes, according to reports.

The sacking of Frank Lampard means the 19-year-old’s future is very much up in the air. The former Blues boss had stated that he was keen to keep hold of the player for the remainder of the season, but the impending appointment of Thomas Tuchel as head coach may change that.

Rangers have been linked with loaning Gilmour in recent months, but there are also reportedly four English clubs who are interested in taking him on a temporary basis.

Wolves, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and West Brom are all believed to want the Scotland Under 21 international but the Gers could offer one thing those four teams don’t have: European football.

Although manager Steven Gerrard has played down interest in Gilmour in the past, it could be an avenue worth exploring if Tuchel does decide to let him leave.
