REPORT: Rangers Interested In Loan Deal For Highly-Rated Young Forward

Rangers are thought to be interested in a loan transfer for Brighton and Hove Albion forward Abdallah Sima, according to a report from Calcio Mercato.

During his time with the Seagulls, Sima has struggled to gain a foothold in the first-team – he has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League for them.

An explosive forward who can also function as a winger or in the number ten role, Sima will bring scintillating pace, quick feet and deceptive physical strength to Rangers’ attacking ranks if they can complete a deal for the young forward.

Who else, besides Rangers, are interested in a move for Abdallah Sima?

As things stand, Rangers currently stand alone in their loan pursuit of Sima – no other clubs have registered an explicit interest in the player over the course of the last few months.

In the past, Sima has been the subject of interest from several high-profile clubs, such as Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham United. However, since his move to Brighton in 2021, none of the three clubs mentioned have resumed their pursuit of the player.

Abdallah Sima football career summary so far

Sima spent time in the youth academies of Medina, Thonon Évian and MAS Táborsko as a youngster, before moving to Slavia Prague in 2020.

During his time in the Czech Republic, Sima attracted attention from well-known clubs from across Europe. In total, he scored 11 goals in 24 games for Červenobílí.

In 2021, his impressive performances for Slavia Prague earned him a move to the Premier League with Brighton – all in all, the Seagulls shelled out a reported £7 million to secure his services.

In the same season, he was sent out on loan to Stoke City, with little success – he made just two Championship appearances for the Potters, scoring no goals.

The following campaign, he went out on loan to Angers, where he enjoyed a more successful stint, scoring four goals in 30 Ligue 1 games.

Sima’s career has often been blighted by injuries, which have somewhat stunted his growth as a professional footballer. Can he earn the run of games that he desperately needs while on loan at the Ibrox Stadium?
