Rangers Lining Up £8.3m Bid For Ex Leeds Striker But Face Major Competition

Rangers are prepared to pay €9m (£8.3m) for Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The ex-Leeds forward only made the permanent move to the Super Lig side for €1m in July after a loan spell in Turkey but he has apparently been impressing scouts, not only from the Scottish club but also from AC Milan.

Ekuban could well be someone that the Gers are considering if Alfredo Morelos were to be offloaded in the summer.

The Colombian international has struggled for form since Christmas and disciplinary problems have also been an issue after he was omitted from the Scottish Cup defeat to Hearts.

Whether Ekuban would be a suitable replacement, it is debatable. The Ghanian has scored just three goals in 15 league games, although he has hit the back of the net eight times in all competitions. For £8m, you would expect a lot more for your money.
