Rangers are very interested in signing Gillingham centre-back Jack Tucker, according to the Scottish Sun. The Light Blues’ Director of Football Ross Wilson has been tracking the defender and it may lead to a £1.5m bid for the 20-year-old in the summer.

However, the Gers will have a battle on their hands to secure a deal for the young centre-half, with Old Firm rivals Celtic, as well as the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa, having already scouted the player.

Tucker has only made 34 senior appearances in his career, 31 of which have come this season, but he has been part of a Gills side that has the third-best defensive record in English League One, having conceded just 30 times in 33 matches.

The Englishman does, though, have a high price tag with Gillingham having tied him down for the next three and a half seasons. It will likely be down to Wilson to decide whether the youngster has the talent to merit the costly outlay.
