Rangers Keen To Snap Up Irish Under 19 International But Face Fight With EPL Clubs

Rangers are interested in signing Bolton defensive midfielder Luca Connell, according to reports in England.

The Trotters are in administration and are looking to cash in on their most saleable assets to stave off liquidation.

Connell’s contract actually expires in June, but Bolton will be entitled to compensation due to his age if a club doesn’t agree a transfer fee before then.

The 18-year-old made ten appearances in the English Championship last season, as well as playing two games for Bolton in the FA Cup.

Connell has also featured for Ireland’s Under 17s, Under 18s and Under 19s this campaign playing in two of the Republic’s three group matches at the Euro U17 Championships earlier this month.

The teenager can play as a fullback, as well as in midfield, and his talent has not only been recognised by Rangers.

Premier League sides Norwich City and Southampton are also reportedly tracking Connell, while Preston are said to be keen as well.
