REPORT: Rangers Transfer Target ‘In Glasgow’ As Announcement Looks Imminent

Rangers transfer target Jose Cifuentes has reportedly landed in Glasgow ahead of the potential move, according to a tweet from Four Lads Had A Dream.

Four Lads Had A Dream indicate that the move could become official ‘anytime in the next few days’ – in any case, it appears that Cifuentes will become a Light Blues player sooner, rather than later.

In Four Lads Had A Dream’s tweet, they wrote: “Jose Cifuentes has arrived and is here in Glasgow Will be announced as a Rangers player anytime in the next few days (Basically when club are ready and after club media etc) but it’s all done. Signing number nine.”

What will Jose Cifuentes add to the squad?

While Rangers have some talented midfield players, such as Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Steven Davis, they are all in the squad for their industry and high work rate, rather than their creative output.

In this sense, Cifuentes will be an excellent foil to them. He is an excellent passer with wonderful ball control – he does not shirk his defensive duties, either.

Cifuentes will add a creative spark to the Gers’ squad that was not present previously. This should allow them to hit teams on the counter more effectively – and will give them the ability to unlock even the most stubborn of defences.

Who else have Rangers signed in the summer transfer window so far?

Rangers have been incredibly busy so far in the summer transfer window. So far, they have brought Danilo, Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Dujon Sterling, Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Leon Balogun and Abdallah Sima to the club.

On top of this, they have also offloaded a slew of playing staff, including Antonio Colak, Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield, Mateusz Żukowski, Lewis Mayo, Alfredo Morelos, Ben Williamson, Filip Helander and Allan McGregor.

Last season, Rangers finished well behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. Following this major shake-up, the Light Blues will be hoping that they can mount a more serious challenge in the 2023/24 campaign – the acquisition of Cifuentes should pay dividends in their upcoming title challenge. Can they knock Celtic off their perch?
