Rangers Join Four Teams In Race For Scotland Midfielder Whose Contract Is Expiring

Rangers are among five teams who are interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch, according to reports.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the Black Cats expires in June and the Scotland international is said to be weighing up his options after failing to establish himself at the Stadium of Light.

Blackburn Rovers are said to be leading the chase for McGeouch but Steven Gerrard’s side, Aberdeen, Brentford and Queens Park Rangers are also believed to be in the hunt.

The midfielder did not score or provide an assist in 22 league appearances last season, with Sunderland boss Jack Ross using him sparingly in the second half of the campaign.

McGeouch had previously performed very well for Hibs in the 2017/18 campaign, leading to a call up for Scotland in May last year. He started two friendlies against Peru and Mexico but hasn’t been picked since then.

The central midfield player played for both Rangers and Celtic at youth level before making his first-team breakthrough at Parkhead.
