Rangers In Four Team Battle To Sign 24 Year Old Keeper Who Could Be Available In January

Rangers are one of four clubs interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson, according to the Scottish Sun. The 24-year-old is also being pursued by Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End.

The shot-stopper is currently the English side’s number two, behind Keiren Westwood, and with his contract expiring in June, it is believed the former England 19 international is looking to leave Hillsborough.

Wednesday are said to be weighing up selling Dawson in January to prevent the player leaving on a free transfer. Whether the Gers would be prepared to shell out transfer fee on the keeper, it seems doubtful

Wes Foderingham remains the Scottish club’s number two, and while they may need a replacement when the 28-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, they are unlikely to need Dawson midway through the campaign.

With that being the case, it remains to be seen if the goalkeeper will stay at Wednesday until the summer when a free transfer could take place.
