Rangers Handed Major Boost In Pursuit Of Liverpool Ace

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent did not feature for the Reds’ Under 23s in the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea last night. The 22-year-old was not even named on the bench by manager Neil Critchley.

It was a surprise omission considering he had played from the start for the Under 23s in the 4-0 loss to Tottenham the week before.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had said that the player would not be loaned out, but with the English transfer window now closed, and no permanent move abroad on the horizon, a temporary switch for Kent is now increasingly likely.

Rangers do have an abundance of left-wingers at the moment, though. Jordan Jones, Jamie Murphy and new signing Brandon Barker are all in the first-team squad.

Murphy is the only one likely to leave with manager Steven Gerrard having suggested that a loan may be a good idea for the 29-year-old following his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Even so, if Kent were to arrive back at Ibrox, he would likely move straight to the top of the club’s preferred options on the left-hand side.
