Rangers Handed Major Boost In Battle To Keep “Special Player” At Ibrox Following EPL Links

The Ibrox Stadium.

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has suggested that Dan James will stay at Elland Road this summer. It has been reported that the English Premier League side would pursue a deal for Rangers’ Ryan Kent if the Welshman was sold but Marsch seems happy to keep the ex-Manchester United player:

“Like Dan [James], I think he has been a big part of what we have done here. Before I came and since I have been here. I don’t anticipate big movements in the group but we just have to see what happens in the next 24 hours.”

Whether things will change on deadline day, we shall have to wait and see. Tottenham are believed to be interested in recruiting James on loan with an option to buy.

If a deal is sanctioned then the Gers may have to brace themselves for a bid from Leeds for Kent. The ex-Liverpool winger (who has been described as a “special player” by BT Sport pundit Owen Hargreaves) has less than a year remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side would have to seriously consider selling the 25-year-old if Leeds tabled a good enough offer but, at the moment, it doesn’t seem likely that they will be presented with such a dilemma.
