Rangers Given Massive Injury Boost As TWO Players Return For B Team Runout

Rangers paid Ridvan Yilmaz and John Souttar both made their long-awaited comebacks from injury as they started for Rangers’ B team on Tuesday.

Head coach David McCallum named the pair in the starting eleven as the Light Blues took on Old Firm rivals Celtic at the Auchenhowie Training Centre.

Yilmaz has not been seen in action for the first team since the 4-1 win over Aberdeen in late October, having sustained a hamstring injury just minutes into the match.

As a consequence, the £3.4m signing from Besiktas has not played under Michael Beale since he was appointed manager and it remains to be seen where the fullback fits into his first team plans.

Souttar, meanwhile, has been out for even longer. After joining on a free transfer from Hearts in the summer, the centre-back managed to make just two appearances before being struck down with a problematic ankle injury.

It will be hoped that both players are now closing in on a return to senior action, with no further setbacks anticipated.
