Rangers Fans Learn Gerrard’s Fate As Klopp Makes Statement About His Liverpool Future

Rangers are unlikely to lose Steven Gerrard to Liverpool this summer after Reds boss Jurgen Klopp effectively ruled himself out of the running for the position of head coach of Germany’s national team.

Gerrard is a bookies favourite to replace Klopp at Anfield if the 53-year-old were to leave Merseyside but the German says he is committed to Liverpool for the next three years:

“Am I available for the job after the summer? No. I have three years left at Liverpool, that’s a simple statement, a simple situation. You sign a contract and you normally try to stick to that contract don’t you? I had a contract in Mainz where I stuck with them even though there was interest from other Bundesliga teams with more money.”

“It is just timing and if it doesn’t work out you don’t have to lose any sleep over it. Someone else will do the job and I am pretty sure with the amount of really good German managers at the moment the German FA will find a good solution”

Of course, results will play a role in whether Klopp sees out his contract at Liverpool, but Gers supporters will be very relieved to hear that he hasn’t thrown his hat in the ring to replace Joachim Low.

Gerrard will, at some point, become manager of his hometown club; that seems inevitable but that time is not now. He has helped guide Rangers to their first league title in ten years and fans will want him to lift a few more before he eventually departs Ibrox.
