Rangers Expected To Make First Signing ‘This Week’ As Gerrard Begins Squad Rebuild

Rangers are likely to make their move for St Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky “this week”, according to the Sunday Post journalist Danny Stewart.

Despite Robby McCrorie having had a superb loan spell at Livingston, manager Steven Gerrard is said to be still looking for an experienced understudy for Allan McGregor.

Hladky has been identified as he is available on a free transfer, and at 29 years of age, he can come in and do a job if McGregor were to be sidelined with injury.

With both Wes Foderingham and Ben Alnwick leaving at the end of their contracts next month, reinforcing their options between the posts was an expected move from the Light Blues.

Hladky has been linked with Celtic and Sunderland, as well as a move to MLS, but it appears the Gers are very much in the driving seat to secure the Czech shot-stopper’s signature before the end of the month.
