Rangers Dealt Setback As Leverkusen Confirm Top Star Will Not Be Sold Before Key Game

Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz will be involved when Rangers play the Bundesliga club in the second leg of their Europa League last 16 tie, according to Rudi Voller.

The German club’s sporting director said that every player currently in the squad will be available when they face the Gers in the return fixture at the beginning of August:

“It goes without saying for me that Kai will be at this club for however long we are in the Europa League. All of our players want that too. It wouldn’t make any sense to sell him before the conclusion of the competition.”

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have all been linked with bids for Havertz, but it appears he won’t be moving any time soon.

He scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in Leverkusen’s 3-1 win at Ibrox back in March, and he has been in excellent form since the Bundesliga’s return last month.

Havertz has scored six goals in his last six appearances, and Gers supporters will be hoping his performance levels have dipped by the time Steven Gerrard’s side face him again in just over six weeks time.
