Rangers Confirm Their Second Signing Of The Summer After They See Off Challenge From Major Rivals

Rangers have announced the signing of Motherwell midfielder Bailey Rice. The Scottish club have only had to pay a small compensation fee for his services.

The Light Blues are believed to have fought off competition for the 15-year-old’s signature from the likes of Celtic and Manchester City.

The English Premier League champions are unable to sign players to professional contracts before the age of 17 so the Gers always had an advantage in the race to sign Rice.

It has been confirmed that the teenager won’t link up with the first team straight away. He will instead continue learning his trade in the development squad managed by Cameron Campbell and Steven Smith.

Rice has already been capped at Under 17 level by Scotland and he has impressed many with his performances in Motherwell’s youth academy last season.

Rangers could follow up their capture of Rice with another signing very shortly, Antonio Colak is set to join from PAOK Salonika after a transfer fee was agreed. Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has also secured the services of Hearts’ John Souttar this summer.
