Rangers Are Weighing Up Move For 21 Year Old Defender As Wilson Eyes Potential Barisic Replacement

Rangers are scouting Huddersfield Town defender Ben Jackson, according to reports in the English media.

The 21-year-old has only recently broken into the Terriers’ first team following the arrival of Mark Fotheringham as manager.

After beginning the season with Huddersfield’s B team, Jackson has now started seven of the Championship club’s last nine matches.

Although he is ostensibly a left-back, Fotheringham has mostly deployed him as a winger, but it is believed that Gers’ Director of Football Ross Wilson may be considering him as a potential replacement for Borna Barisic.

The Croatian international has just turned 30 and he will only have one year remaining on his contract at Ibrox next summer so a younger alternative could well be brought in.

It seems as though the Light Blues are only keeping tabs on Jackson at the moment and it’s likely that Wilson and his recruitment staff are also looking at other options.
