Rangers And Celtic Scouts Watch On As Championship Ace Fires In Hat-trick

Rangers and Celtic are both keeping tabs on Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland, according to the Daily Record. The Scottish publication reports the Old Firm Rivals had scouts watching on as the Championship side beat Morton 6-0.

They say that Gers scout Billy McLaren was in attendance as Shankland bagged a hat-trick during the game. The 24-year-old now has 15 goals for the season in all competitions.

Shankland has been on Rangers’ radar since he started bagging in the goals for Ayr United last season. He scored 34 during the 2018/19 campaign before making the move on a free transfer to Tannadice.

With his form for Dundee United, he looks well on the way to surpassing that total, leading to the interest from the two Old Firm rivals.

Rangers will likely be looking for a third choice striker after allowing Kyle Lafferty to leave on a free transfer. The Northern Irishman had his contract terminated by mutual consent in July.
