Swansea City have won the battle to sign Burton Albion striker Kyle Joseph, according to reports in the UK.

The Scotland Under 21 international was being pursued by Rangers before they pulled out of the race for the teenager back in April.

Since January, Joseph has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Celtic and Newcastle, with the latter two having reportedly made contract offers to the 19-year-old, but it appears the forward has opted to make the move to Wales instead.

The youngster is out of contract at the end of this month, but due to his age, Swansea are expected to pay compensation, which could amount to as much as £1m.

Whether such a substantial payoff was the reason Rangers stepped away from the deal for Joseph, it isn’t known. The Light Blues do have plenty of options up front anyway with the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Fashion Sakala, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe all part of the first-team squad.
