Rangers have registered an interest in Stoke City winger Tom Ince, according to reports in the English media.

Manager Steven Gerrard was at Liverpool when the player first came through the Merseyside club’s youth system and will no doubt have noticed that his former teammate has fallen down the pecking order at the Bet365 Stadium.

Ince has failed to make the matchday squad in two of Stoke’s three league fixtures this campaign and it appears that manager Michael O’Neill no longer sees him as an important first-team player.

That has led to the Gers, as well as Celtic, to enquire about the winger’s availability. West Brom are also thought to be in the race to sign the midfielder so it remains to be seen which club will emerge as favourites for his signature.

The Light Blues could do with strengthening their options on the right wing, and Ince’s ability to cut in onto his stronger left-foot would give the team the right balance with Ryan Kent on the opposite flank.
