Rangers Among 2 Clubs Leading The Race To Sign 24 Year Old Who Once Cost 16M

Rangers and Celta Vigo are among the favourites to snap up Wolves striker Patrick Cutrone, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Empoli and there was an expectation that he would return to Italy on a permanent basis this summer.

However, the Gers are believed to be leading the race to secure Cutrone’s signature, along with Vigo, which is a somewhat surprising development considering manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst recruited a forward, Antonio Colak, earlier this month.

It could be the case that the Light Blues are considering signing Cutrone for the short term, with Alfredo Morelos battling to be fit for the start of the season.

Wolves actually spent a hefty £16m on Cutrone when they purchased him from AC Milan in July 2019 but, after struggling to make an impact at Molineux, he has been sent out on loan on three separate occasions.
