Rangers Targeting Ex Spurs Defender As They Line Up Katic Replacement On Free Transfer

Rangers are weighing up whether to snap up defender Christian Maghoma on a free transfer, according to the Football Insider.

After Nikola Katic picked up a serious knee injury, the Light Blues have been looking at potential options on the transfer market and Maghoma is the one that has emerged as a leading candidate.

The Congolese international came through the academy at Tottenham but did not make a first-team appearance for the Premier League club before making the switch to Polish football in 2018.

After two impressive seasons playing for Arka Gdynia, Maghoma left when his contract expired at the end of May. Despite his height (6ft 5), he is also very quick, which could make him an ideal fourth choice centre-half for manager Steven Gerrard.

The 22-year-old does, though, lack the experience of playing in a top European League and it remains to be seen whether he could cut it in the SPFL.
