Prospective Rangers Signing Could Be In Attendance At Old Firm Clash

Rennes defender Edson Mexer is weighing up the possibility of watching the Rangers v Celtic game at Ibrox this weekend, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is suspended for Rennes’ game against Guingamp so he is free to attend.

Mexer has reportedly already met manager Steven Gerrard and the Gers may invite him to watch the match on Sunday as they step up their attempts to sign the Mozambique international.

It is believed that the Scottish club have already put a contract offer on the table, with the centre-back’s agent Laurent Schmitt said to be in the country ironing out the terms of the deal.

Mexer is also a former teammate of Rangers winger Daniel Candeias, who has also hinted that the defender could well move to Scotland.

It will be interesting to see whether the defender will be in stands for the Old Firm match this weekend.
