New Twist In Rangers’ Attempts To Sign 13 Goal Nigerian Ace On Free Transfer

Rangers could miss out on signing Josh Maja on a free transfer this summer if Bordeaux are promoted, according to reports.

The 24-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season but Bordeaux’s return to the French top flight would see the former Sunderland player’s contract automatically extended for another year.

Ironically, Maja’s goals could be what fires Bordeaux to promotion, having scored 12 goals in Ligue Two, and 13 in total, this campaign.

The Nigerian international has had two loan spells away from his parent club in recent seasons, having played for both Fulham and Stoke City. However, under the management David Guion, Maja has re-established himself as a first-team regular.

Bordeaux currently sit in the automatic promotion places but, even if they drop out of the top two, they could still seal a return to Ligue One through the playoffs. At this moment in time, the striker‘s move on a free to Rangers isn’t looking likely.
