Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has called for an independent investigation into how the SPFL has dealt with passing a resolution that could effectively end the Premiership season.
There have been numerous allegations made about the voting process, with the Gers accusing the governing body of bullying certain clubs into voting for ending the campaign. Gerrard wants to see some leadership and has asked for the SPFL to rid the process of any questions by launching an inquiry:
“From my point of view, I think all I ask is for the main leader of the SPFL to show some real leadership in this time. I think what he has to do now because there’s so many accusations, and doubts and questions about this institution, he needs to allow an independent investigation into the set-up up there to prove everything wrong and to make sure that there is fairness and transparency across the board up there in Scotland.”
Fans are backing Gerrard’s stance on the matter, but some are worried that the way this has been handled could lead to the Light Blues boss walking away:

He must seriously question what he’s got involved in up here. A local amateur league would be embarrassed by the way the way this had played out. It’s pathetic.

As Gerrard says, the whole situation is a mess and the rancour which the SPFL resolution has stirred up is unlikely to go away anytime soon. Legal action could well be considered to challenge the vote, while there are a number of different scenarios for what could happen next.
