‘He Is The One’ Pundit Says Rangers Should Appoint This Highly-Rated Manager

Scottish pundit Tam McManus has named Kevin Muscat has his preferred candidate for the vacant manager role at Rangers in a recent interview.

McManus says that Muscat ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ and says that as a Rangers supporter, he is ‘the one I would want to see coming in’. Additionally, he also confirmed that Muscat is still in the running for the job.

Despite being a Rangers fan, McManus never played for the Gers during his playing career – instead, he turned out for clubs such as Hibernian, Dundee and Colorado Rapids.

What did Tam McManus say regarding Kevin Muscat?

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, McManus said [via YouTube]: “Kevin Muscat has always been and still remains in the running. He is the one I have always fancied from the start. There is talk about the Japanese season finishing in December.

“I don’t know if they are going to wait for him or they just take him now, but he just ticks a lot of boxes for me and his name is still in the running. So, I think he will be the next Rangers manager. I do think that he is still there.

“Of all the names mentioned there I think he is the one I am looking at as a Rangers supporter. I think he is the one I would want to see coming in.”

Is Kevin Muscat the best option for Rangers?

In many ways, Muscat draws comparisons with former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou. Not only do they both have experience of managing in Australia and Japan (they both coached Melbourne Victory) they also bring a modern, high-pressing managerial style to the table.

Additionally, Muscat is also familiar with the club, having played for Rangers between the years of 2002 and 2003. During this time, he made 22 appearances for the Light Blues, but failed to score a league goal.

Of course, Muscat isn’t the only candidate in the running – coaches such as Wayne Rooney, John Eustace and Philippe Clement are also considered as potential suitors at the Ibrox Stadium. There is also the possibility of Steven Davis, the current caretaker manager, taking on the role in a permanent capacity.
