McCoist Calls On Rangers To Resist Temptation To Sell 15M Rated Fan Favourite

Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist says the club must keep Ryan Kent this summer even if the club need to offload players to balance the books.

Leeds United are reportedly lining up a £15m bid for the ex-Liverpool player at the end of the season, but McCoist thinks the Light Blues should not consider selling one of their best players:

“They can sell anyone but Kent. He is the one player who gives you something different. He opens up the game. Listen, I don’t know the finances now. I’m hearing they might have to sell somebody and all of that type of stuff, which is understandable because business is business. So, if Rangers do have to balance the books a little bit, I totally understand it. From how I’m looking at it, it could well be Kent because his form has been fantastic. But I just think he is the one player who is different in that squad.”

Kent has been superb this season, having won any doubters around with his performances for the Light Blues. His 12 goals and 14 assists in 50 appearances have been integral to the team winning title number 55.

As McCoist points out, though, there is a feeling that the Scottish champions may need to sell in order to make up some of the losses caused by the global health crisis.

However, selling Kent would send the wrong message, both to the fans and to manager Steven Gerrard who has ambitions to make the club formidable on the domestic stage over the coming years.
