Matthaus Makes Frank Claim About Rangers As They Are Drawn Against Borussia Dortmund In The Europa League

Rangers only have a 10% chance of winning their Europa League playoff round match against Borussia Dortmund, according to Lothar Matthaus.

The Germany legend says Dortmund are huge favourites going into the tie and it would be a shock if they didn’t qualify for the last 16:

“BVB is very clear and big favourite against Glasgow Rangers. This is an absolute top lot for Dortmund. If spectators are allowed, fans and players can enjoy a great atmosphere. From a sporting point of view, I see Dortmund’s advantage as 90:10. Anything but advancement would surprise me very much.”

There’s no doubt that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will be huge underdogs heading into the two legs versus Dortmund but, if the Bundesliga side are as complacent as Matthaus, they may be in for a shock.

The home game at Ibrox will be crucial for the Gers. The atmosphere will be electric (as long as supporters are allowed of course) and they will have to use that to their advantage.

Van Bronckhorst has also reinvigorated the squad since his arrival as manager and, by the time the first leg comes around in February, he will have had plenty of time to get his ideas across to his players, increasing Rangers’ chances of securing a good result.
