Rangers forward Greg Stewart was given his first league start of the season by manager Steven Gerrard in the 5-0 win against Aberdeen yesterday afternoon.
The 29-year-old took his chance by scoring the second goal, as well as providing an assist, and he certainly impressed Gers fans on Twitter who think he should be used more often:
Like to see him used more, could rotate for Arfield and still keep the guile and link up in team while giving people more rest

Different from anyone else in the squad. He could have had 3 assists and that goal. Showed he can be trusted to be fair!

He’s a good player when he’s played in his best position ?

Said he'd be a dark horse for the season, looking like a could be proven right, if this type of form continues. Can't see why he wouldn't start on Thursday.

Well done Greg terrific game

He was great. Once kent is fit there's going to be some battle for the forward places. Crazy to think that the 4 goalscorers yesterday cost a total of £1.2m

Gerrard said after the game that Stewart’s display gave him “something to think about” but the forward has a battle on his hands to get into the team on a regular basis.
The impending return of Ryan Kent, along with Sheyi Ojo, Scott Arfield and Brandon Barker means the Light Blues have a number of options in advanced positions, as well as the likes of Joe Aribo and Andy King.
Even so, Stewart’s excellent performance could see him get more game time over the coming weeks. It does appear that fierce competition for places in the Rangers’ squad is keeping everyone on their toes.
