Laudrup Urges Gerrard To Sign Understudy For Rangers Star After Livingston Stalemate

Rangers legend Brian Laudrup has called on manager Steven Gerrard to find an understudy for Joe Aribo. The Nigerian international missed the 0-0 draw against Livingston on Sunday due to injury and the Light Blues failed to create many clear cut chances as a result.

After hearing that Gerrard is interested in signing a midfielder before the transfer window shuts, Laudrup thinks he should go after another playmaker to increase the team’s creativity:

“I know Gerrard has been speaking about adding another midfielder. That will be really interesting because perhaps they need one who can offer that bit more creativity if Aribo isn’t available. Those players tend to cost, but there will be some out there who could help the squad.”

Unfortunately, it is thought that Gerrard is looking for another holding midfield player, rather than a more attacked minded player.

The likes of Bongani Zungu, Kristiyan Malinov, Dejan Ljubicic and Haris Belkebla have all been mentioned as possible targets but none of these options are in the mould that Laudrup is looking for.

To be honest, with the likes of Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent out on the pitch, there should have been enough creativity to break down Livingston and the disappointing result certainly shows there is still work to be done if the Gers are to win their 55th league title.
