Journalist Sensationally Tips Ex Arsenal And United Star To Join Van Bronckhorst At Rangers

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie could join Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff at Rangers according to journalist Stuart Hodge.

Like Gio, van Persie has a strong connection to Feyenoord and Hodge suggests the strikers’ recent stint as a coach at the Eredivisie side could lead to him being hired by the Light Blues:

“Van Persie has been mentioned and I think he was Dick Advocaat’s assistant at Feyenoord There’s obviously been a long-standing connection between Rangers and Dutchmen. Although van Persie wasn’t one of the Dutchmen to play for Rangers, the Feyenoord connection is there, so I could easily see that happening.”

It’s an intriguing prospect. The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell has already highlighted an issue with the new backroom team that could be solved with van Persie’s appointment.

Van Bronckhorst’s right-hand man Jean-Paul van Gastel is currently managing Chinese Super League club Guangzhou City and getting him out of his contract could prove problematic.

With that being the case, van Persie could be seen as a viable alternative. The 38-year-old was a forward coach under previous Feyenoord boss Dick Advocaat, and he is now performing a dual role as a coach to the senior side and assistant to the youth team under current number one Arne Slot.
