The Sheffield Star‘s Joe Crann has refuted speculation that Sheffield Wednesday are targeting Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson.
It was reported yesterday that English Championship clubs Wednesday and Nottingham Forest were interested in the 28-year-old but responding on Twitter, Crann said there is no prospect of such a move happening this month:
I’m sure he’s desperate to leave a Rangers team on course for the title to join a relegation battle 😂

Goldson has been in superb form for the Light Blues this season, helping his side to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, as well as securing a place in the Europa League knockout stages.
As Crann points out, why would the defender even consider giving that up to play for clubs struggling at the wrong end in the second tier of English football?
Goldson’s contract situation will, though, have to be addressed very soon. The centre-half has less than eighteen months remaining on his current deal at Ibrox and negotiations over an extension are due.
