Rangers remain in discussions with Nicolas Raskin’s entourage but they have yet to contact his club Standard Liege, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian reporter, who revealed that the Gers had reignited their interest in the 21-year-old last week, was asked for an update on the player’s situation and he replied that talks are “ongoing”:
Talks still ongoing between club and player’s side. Rangers didn’t get in touch with #Standard yet.
Will let you know when the case will know a significant advance since I reveal the scoop news on Thursday.— Sacha Tavolieri (@sachatavolieri) January 22, 2023
Speaking about the transfer on Friday, Tavolieri confirmed that the Gers are keen to bring in Raskin this month but Standard have slapped a £2.2m price tag on the player.
With the midfielder having less than six months left on his contract, that valuation looks very high, so it could be the case that Michael Beale’s side are discussing a pre-contract agreement ahead of a free transfer next summer.
Whatever the case may be, it appears that a deal for Raskin is still being negotiated as Rangers look to follow up the capture of Norwich’s Todd Cantwell with another signing.
