Journalist Claims Turkish Club Have Rejected £7M Bid From Rangers

Rangers have had a £7m offer turned down by Antalyaspor for striker Haji Wright, according to journalist Ertan Suzgun.

The Turkish reporter claims that the bid was deemed unacceptable but he does not go into further details about whether the Gers are planning to return to the negotiating table:

It should be pointed out that no other source has confirmed Suzgun’s “exclusive” and it’s probably wise to treat this report with a large pinch of salt at the moment.

If the Light Blues have tabled such a sizeable bid for Wright, it would suggest that the club are willing to back manager Michael Beale in the transfer market to bring in a replacement for Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian international has left Ibrox on a free transfer, leaving a big hole for the club to fill up front.

Who is Rangers transfer target Haji Wright?

The American international has been a journeyman for most of his career up until now. He started out at LA Galaxy’s academy before going on to have spells at New York Cosmos, Bundesliga side Schalke, Dutch club VVV Venlo and Danish outfit SonderjyskE.

Wright joined his current team Antalyaspor on loan initially, coming in at the start of 2021/22 season. He scored 15 goals in 35 appearances for the Turkish Super Lig club so they signed him permanently last year.

The forward’s second campaign has been equally successful, scoring 16 games in only 28 games. He has been capped by his country, getting his first call-up last summer, and he was named in USA’s World Cup squad. Whether he is worth £7m, though, it is up for debate, but it seems Rangers may have to go even higher than that to secure his services.
