Journalist Claims Rangers Could Get A “Bargain” If They Do Sign German U21 Starlet Ahead Of 3 Other Teams

Rangers could get a “bargain” if they do secure the services of RB Leipzig holding midfielder Eric Martel, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The journalist believes the German is available for a “cheap price” and the Gers would be making a smart move by landing the player this summer:

“It’s an interesting transfer target that Rangers have got here in Martel, and somebody who you would think could be a bargain as well at a cheap price. It could be an astute piece of business by Rangers if they do pursue their interest in Martel.”

Martel is currently on loan at Austria Vienna and he has reportedly been told by Leipzig that he can leave the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

The Gers won’t be the only team interested in snapping up the 20-year-old, with FC Cologne, Freiburg and Union Berlin all said to be keen on signing the midfielder as well.

Martel does have three caps for Germany at Under 21 level, and he is undoubtedly someone that possesses a great deal of potential. As O’Rourke mentions briefly, though, Rangers haven’t moved ahead with an offer at this stage, so we shall see how this transfer story plays out.
