Everton have included Rangers manager Steven Gerrard on their list of replacements for Carlo Ancelotti, according to The Athletic.
The Light Blues boss is said to be “in the frame” along with Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez, West Ham’s David Moyes, former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag and Rafa Benitez.
It would be a massive shock if Gerrard was even considering a switch to Everton, considering his long association with city rivals Liverpool, so it’s definitely wise to take this report with a large pinch of salt.
Gerrard has, though, been linked with a number of jobs south of the border in recent weeks, with the 41-year-old having also been suggested as a candidate for the posts at Wolves and Tottenham.
It could be argued, though, that Rangers are in a better position than the three clubs mentioned. The Scottish champions could well qualify for the Champions League group stages if they make it through the qualifying rounds.
