“I Think We Would Have A Chance” Rangers Star Backs Side To Beat Manchester United

Rangers defender Nikola Katic says he is hopeful that the Light Blues will be drawn against Manchester United in the next round of the Europa League.

The draw for the last 32 stage takes place next week after the Gers secured qualification from their group with a draw against Young Boys. Katic thinks after their performances against Porto, he can see them giving a weak United side a game:

“I would like Man United. They are all good teams in the draw, but whoever comes here to Ibrox will find it really tough. When I was a kid I supported Arsenal, but I think we would have a chance against Man United.”

“We have shown what we can do. Man United are not playing great just now. When you look at Porto, a club not on the same level but a similar one, we showed against them that we can play. So why not against Man United?”

Katic is not the only person who thinks Rangers would be capable of beating the English clubs in the knockout rounds of the European competition.

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton also believes the Gers should have nothing to fear from the likes of Arsenal, United or Wolves if they are drawn against one of the Premier League sides:

“Scottish football’s on the up, getting two clubs into the knock-out stages is something to really shout about. This is a big deal. And I don’t think that any of the remaining clubs down south will especially fancy a trip north.”

Whether Rangers do actually get an English team, we shall have to wait and see. The draw is scheduled to get underway at 12 pm on Monday in Nyon, Switzerland.
