“I Don’t See That” Don Hutchinson Lashes Out At Claims That Key Rangers Man Could Be Off To EPL Side

Former Scotland international Don Hutchinson does not expect Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to be interested in the Tottenham job if the English Premier League club make an approach for him.

Spurs are looking for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho last month, and Gerrard has been mentioned as a potential candidate, but Hutchinson feels the only team he would consider leaving Ibrox for would be Liverpool:

“I think he’s waiting for the Liverpool job. Just leave him at Rangers, let him win another title and just when the time is right I think he’ll come back to Liverpool. Why would you take Spurs? He ain’t going to get anywhere at Spurs. Harry Kane will be off by the time he gets there. Son might be off. I don’t see that bit.”

In terms of being a contender for the post at Tottenham, Gerrard remains a rank outsider at the bookies, with most of the smart money currently going on Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers and Fulham head coach Scott Parker.

It’s safe to say that Rangers are not likely to be fending off enquiries from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, so supporters should rest easy in the knowledge that Gerrard will be at the Scottish champions next season as they look to make it title number 56.
