Hutton Thinks Rangers Have ‘Very Big’ Gap To Bridge To Stop Celtic’s Run To Ten In A Row

Ex-Rangers defender Alan Hutton has said that Celtic are firm favourites to win the title this season, but he still believes that his former club can stop their Old Firm rivals from winning ten league titles in a row next campaign.

The Gers currently sit ten points behind Celtic with 12 games to go, and when asked whether they can stop the Hoops from making it ten next season, he replied:

“Yes. [This year] it is going to be very difficult. The gap is very big at the moment. Although Rangers have a game in hand at the moment and still have to play Celtic twice it is still a massive ask.”

“The only thing is that before the winter break Rangers put on one of the performances of a long, long time at Celtic Park. I bought into it and thought this is it. I thought they were going to win it. Everything was on a high but it just shows you how good Celtic can be.”

Hutton is probably being a bit pessimistic in terms of this campaign, but there is no doubt it will be an uphill task to claw back the lead Neil Lennon’s side have built in recent weeks.

However, with regards to ten in a row, there is a lot of football to be played before we start worrying about that. Both teams will likely undergo changes in the summer, and it’s even hard to predict what will happen next month, let alone next year.
