Hutton Backs Rangers Ace To “Score A Lot Of Goals” If He Secures Aston Villa Switch

Former Rangers and Aston Villa fullback Alan Hutton believes Gers forward Alfredo Morelos would thrive if he moves to Villa Park.

The Colombian international was linked with a switch to the English club during the January transfer window, and when asked about the 23-year-old potentially moving down to the Premier League, Hutton said:

“I do believe he could go down south and score a lot of goals but it’s just about picking the right team for him, where he’s going to fit in and get chances. I do think at Villa he would have that.”

There is a lot of uncertainty around football at the moment so transfers aren’t likely to be high on the agenda of any clubs.

However, Morelos has not hidden his desire to test himself in a bigger league, and it’s likely that if Villa, or another Premier League team, do come calling in the coming months he would be looking to leave Ibrox.

The biggest question mark, though, would be price. Reports have claimed that agents have told interested parties Rangers could be open to selling the Colombian for around £13m in the summer.

That price tag could rise if the likes of Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Leicester also enter the bidding for Morelos.
