‘Hope It’s Not That Bad’ ‘Injuries Have Haunted His Career’ Fans Frustrated As Rangers Star Is Sidelined

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that midfielder Bongani Zungu picked up a knock whilst away on international duty.

The 28-year-old played in South Africa’s 4-2 win over Sao Tome and Principe earlier this week but it appears he sustained a knee injury in the process. He is now a doubt for the Light Blues’ game against Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

Zungu has not made his full debut for the Gers yet, after moving from Amiens on loan before the transfer window closed last month, and fans on Twitter are disappointed that they may not see more of the midfielder this weekend:

A contract dispute with Amiens meant that Zungu had a delayed return to first-team action so when he joined Rangers, it took him a fair while to get up to match fitness. The first sighting supporters got of him was as a substitute during the 8-0 win against Hamilton but it seems we may now have to wait a bit longer to see him get his first start.
