‘Hope If True It’s Not In Place Of Alfie’ ‘Never Heard Of Him’ Fans Speculate As Rangers Enter Talks To Sign 13 Goal Forward

Rangers have offered a four-year deal to KV Oostende striker Fashion Sakala, according to reports in the Scottish media.

The Zambian international’s contract expires in the summer and he will be available on a free transfer. Fans on Twitter have been speculating on why manager Steven Gerrard wants to sign the 24-year-old:

There is a possibility that Sakala is being lined up to replace Alfredo Morelos. Director of Football Ross Wilson has previously confirmed that they have promised the Colombian that he can leave if a club meets their asking price.

However, the more likely reason is that the Light Blues are lining up a replacement for Jermain Defoe. The veteran’s current deal at Ibrox ends in June and there has been no talk about an extension.

Sakala would certainly be a useful squad player, having scored 13 goals in 28 appearances for Oostende this campaign, so he could offer competition for the likes of Morelos and Kemar Roofe.
