Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was praised by The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell after coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Hearts on Wednesday night.
The journalist claims the Colombian international may have even done enough to warrant him being handed a start against St Mirren this weekend:
Rangers have looked so much better with Morelos tonight. Must have put himself in with a chance of starting vs St Mirren.

It’s fair to say that assessment didn’t go down too well with fans on Twitter who disagreed about Morelos’s performance:
He’s been rank rotten

You must have watched a different game from me pal

We could really do with 30 shots off target against St Mirren I agree 👍

He missed 3 good chances, 2 not even on target

I thought morelos was dire, the team looked better when Wright came on

Think Rangers played better when he was on but can’t really give him any credit for that. Missed several excellent chances to score.

He still doesn’t look fit & his finishing is awful for a centre forward. Absolutely no finesse. Just hits everything as hard as he can.

Out of condition & very wasteful in front of goal

Morelos did have an impact after he came onto the pitch. He picked the pocket of Hearts defender Kye Rowles but he was wasteful in possession, blazing a shot high over the bar late on in the game.
The 26-year-old still looks short of full fitness, which does raise the question of whether he is putting the effort in training to get back into the team.
You’d have to say that manager Giovanni Bronckhorst won’t be picking him ahead of Antonio Colak any time soon.
