“He Was Keen To Come…” Sky Pundit Makes Surprising Claim About Rangers’ Attempts To Sign United Star

Jack Butland was interested in signing for Rangers last summer but the Light Blues did not go through with the move, according to Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd.

The former England international remained at Crystal Palace before being loaned out to Manchester United in January. However, the Gers are now expected to make a second attempt to recruit the keeper, this time on a free transfer, and Boyd wonders why they didn’t make an approach sooner:

“The deal to sign Jack Butland might get done this summer. But why didn’t it happen 12 months ago? I know he was keen to come.”

Butland did have one year left on his contract at the start of the season so it is likely to be the case that the Gers didn’t want to pay a fee for the player.

As it was, the 30-year-old spent most of the first half of the campaign sidelined with a broken finger. Despite moving to United at the start of the year, he has not made a single first-team appearance during his time at Old Trafford.
