“He Stands Up To Be Counted” Gerrard Singles Out One Rangers Star For Praise After Scrappy Win

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has praised Scott Arfield following his performance against Livingston in the 1-0 win yesterday afternoon.

It wasn’t a particularly memorable performance from the home side at Ibrox but Arfield was on hand to score his ninth goal of the season midway through the second half.

Gerrard says the midfielder’s display symbolised what he wants from all of his players going forward:

“Scott epitomises what we want. Out of possession he shows grit, he shows fight, he’s there for you and in possession, he’s always available. He stands up to be counted at important times, so we’re extremely happy with Scott at the moment.”

Arfield has had his struggles this campaign but he has been playing a lot closer to his best over the past few weeks. In stark contrast to the Light Blues who have struggled for form since the winter break.

It should have been a more comfortable win with Rangers having had a goal ruled out for offside as well as having claims for a penalty turned down.

The victory against Livingston puts them back to within ten points of league leaders Celtic with a game in hand.
