“He Just Stands And Lets The Ball Go In…” Thierry Henry Criticises Rangers Star For His Role In Ajax Defeat

Rangers were poor to a man against Ajax on Tuesday evening, but there were certain players who really struggled. One of those was Leon King.

The teenager made a bizarre decision for Ajax’s first goal, when he decided against blocking a shot from Steven Berghuis as he believed it was going wide. Speaking as a pundit on CBS Sports, where he was working alongside Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry spoke out about King’s role as Ajax opened the scoring:

“I like what [Mohammed] Kudus does there, laying the ball off, but Jamie (Carragher) can you explain to me what the defender of Rangers is doing there? He just stands and lets the ball go in.”

It’s difficult to be too critical of King, considering his age. He did have a very difficult night but many believe that he has a big future with the Gers.

You don’t get the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and Leeds pursuing you if you are a bad player, and it will be hoped that the 18-year-old’s confidence is not shaken too much after a very challenging 90 minutes. We shall see if he faces St Johnstone this weekend.
